They say that a picture paints a thousand words, so wouldn’t it be great to use an image to help illustrate an Excel chart? Well, this is actually possible because anything you copy onto your clipboard can be pasted onto a data series in Excel.
In the example above, clicking on the picture of the coins and copying (copy or ctrl/c), then clicking on a data series (Home/paste or ctrl/v) will give the effect below:
There are some formatting options open to you when you use images in this way. Right-click on the series and select Format Data Series.
You will see there are 3 format options:
- Stretch (default)
- Stack
- Stack and scale to
If we select Stack, we see:
If we select Stack and scale, we can enter a number into the Unit/Picture box. Again, this is something you can experiment with.
